Journal Entry #8

The photo of the plants at a quick look may look real, but the information about the causes of  the mutation are very limited. The picture could be real but to prove weather it is or not you would have to look up sources, but in this case there are no other sources that talk about the flower. The fact that there is limited information about the flowers make me think that it is fake news and people used photo-shop to make online viewers think that it is real.      "Yellow Journalism" started in the popular New York World comic strip, there was a child dressed in yellow that was known as the "yellow kid". The other paper in New York was the New York Journal, the papers were rivals. The New York Journal then also started writing comics about a "yellow kid" and that started a competition of the "Yellow kids". This is what started "Yellow Journalism". Fake news is dangerous because people believe everything they read on the internet

I think that this law that Canada has passed is good because people can let out information out to the public that can hurt them. This is good because the information that that leak can really influence peoples views on the company or the person they are writing about. Also it is a good law because it protects the people that are trying to let the public know what people are doing, or planning in doing. https://news.vice.com/story/canada-passes-law-to-protect-whistleblowers-and-journalists-confidential-sources

Most people, like myself believe that all news that is presented to them is factual and do not bother checking to see if that if actually the case. I know my self that I do not check other sources to see if what I had read was true.  After reading the two articles it made a lot of sense to me that they were fabricated. I agree, liars convince themselves that what they are saying is true then try to convince other that what they made up is the truth. I do believe that collages and universities should see if their students can handle being a journalist because they have to make sure that what they write is not an lie and that they are not choosing sides. I believe that the ombudsmen helps with newspaper and companies because when issues arise they are there to help .

Excellent Speech: Clap for Xi Jinping   (soft)    The Chinese government made an app that you can virtually clap for the president. They have made a game that you can applaud the president's speech and the people of China that missed it can make up for it by giving "claps" on the game. Users watch short clips of the speech after the clip is over, players have 18 seconds to give as many claps as they can by pressing the yellow button at the bottom of the phone screen. The game was played 860 million times since October 18th, 2017.   NEO-NAZIS CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER IN GAINESVILLE   (hard)      Three Neo-Nazis were arrested on Thursday, October 19th, 2017 for allegedly shooting people who had been holding anti-Nazi signs following a speech at the University of Florida by Richard Spencer. This is hard news because it is important news about things that are going on that can, and do affect people. The three men    Colton Fears, 28, and his brother William, 30, fro

The  first article : Timing 4/4      The timing is this article is very good because it happened on Friday and the article was out on Saturday. Trump is always in the public's eye and this deal with Iraq is very important to the country, and world because it could stop a nuclear war. Significance 4/4       I gave the significance 4/4 because it is very significant, people need to know that Trump is  "decertifying" the agreement that the U.S. has with Iraq. That is significant because Trump doing this could ruin the agreement and ruin the accords. Proximity 3/4     The United States is our neighboring country and we back them in mostly everything they do. I gave the proximity a 3/4 for that reason because it is going on close to our country. Prominence 4/4      This is very prominent because everyone always has their eyes on Trump and the things that he decides to do. Trump is always being viewed and talked about, I gave this a 4/4. Human Intrest 4/4      Th

Journal Entry #2 Starting With The Basics

Article#1        This article is about Jose Bautista, in the article it tells us what happens during his last possible home game in Toronto as a Blue Jay, and all of his accomplishments over the years on the team. On September, 24th, 2017 the game took place at the Rogers Center in Toronto. Bautista might have his last game because he is older than most players and wants too much money, and his is way to out if his prime to be asking for so much money, and people don't expect the team to be able to reach a mutual agreement. In the lead of the article, it mentions the stats in the game and that would capture the reader's attention to read on, I think that it was a good lead because it made Jays fans very emotional saying that this might be his last game in a Blue Jays uniform in Toronto.  During an interview after the game, Jose said, " It's good to be recognized and it's good to feel the love. I appreciate everything that happened today." Yes, the important i
